SYNOPSIS: A documentary film about the epidemic travesty of baby abandonment.

Baby Doe's Heartbeat Safe Haven Law Nevada
EXT. CEMETERY - DAY Shot from "Baby Doe's Heartbeat"

In the darkness, a silent, frightened cry is heard.  It is that of an infant struggling to stay alive in the surroundings of rejected refuse in a trash bin.  A mother has discarded of her own flesh and bones.  Sadly, in 1998 the US Department of Health and Human Services, counted 105 babies nationwide who were dumped by mothers who felt there was no other alternative.  Even more alarming--the number keeps rising...

Some mothers claim to have been swallowed up in the pressures of bill paying & lack of child care; that feelings of isolation & failure to provide overwhelmed them.  Some mothers were shunned by their families due to the pregnancy.  These mothers struggling with deep shame resented their child & felt they had absolutely no way out & chose to dump their infants in large cold, metal, dumpsters.  Tragically, little ones lost their lives needlessly.  If only the mothers knew there was help for their babies.  A safe place for them to lay.

This documentary will uncover & provide avenues of hope for destitute women who feel their only option is to abandon their babies in a trash dumpster.  There are several charitable organizations that will help these mothers before they perform this desperate act.
Another option presented for mothers is to use the "Safe Haven" Law (currently provided in 35 states).  We'll also show the alleged controversial issues that surrounds the "Safe Haven" Law & what we as citizens can do to help improve upon this legislation.

One thing is certain, everyone involved wants to save babies' lives.  If further education & informing the public of these options will help, then that's what we need to do.

"We believe that a heartbeat, no matter how small it is, deserves a chance at life.  We want to give them that chance.  Together we can prevent more Baby Doe's!"

Encopa Productions is proud to be founders of  a NEW ribbon campaign for the baby abandonment cause. "We have chosen the silver ribbon as the color for this cause for a reason. It symbolically stands for a baby's silver feeding spoon.  Another reason  is for the analogy of how silver needs to be refined in the fire as much as our awareness about this issue."

"The more research we did for our project, the more we realized that there was so much more we needed to do. Our hopes is that we can further our efforts in making more young women realize that there are alternatives to recklessly abandoning their child."

Noelle & Kristopher Kale are proud to announce the Public Service Announcement
"This is Not a Crib for Your Baby" will broadcast state wide in California.
Our humble thanks to Debbe Magnusen of Project Cuddle for entrusting us with this project.
